EVERY Game on steam bores me
I literally play any game for 10 minutes and feel this dred of boredom and i log off, I keep buying games on steam, they look great in trailers and i get that rush to play but none can hook me. I have found some joy in mobile games on the IPAD cause they are new( recently bought a IPAD first expierance with mobile games)

Am i burned out on gaming or just gaming at the PC ?

Does this make any sense ?

Yep. Sometimes you outgrow hobbies. Or you get burnt out because game play loops start blending together and they're all meaningless.

It's probably time to start looking into Stock Market Investing.

Just think of the adrenaline rush when you recognize THAT'S REAL MONEY!!

You are burned out on gaming, just like me.

Yes, it makes perfect sense. You ARE burned out, and should NOT force the issue or you'll not get anywhere.

I experience this, as everyone does from time to time. I'll regale you with my life in the hopes you might get a handle on how to deal with it.

I'm disabled, and found this out over 25 years ago. I knew things would get so bad that I'd eventually be housebound. I could no longer work (but I did do some self-employed and voluntary stuff) so I knew I was going to be looking at time stuck at home. I ade sure to amass as much ♥♥♥♥ as I could to keep me entertained.

So I've got thousands of games and many, many consoles and computers. A pinball table in my front room. Decent stereo, small recording setup, several synths, guitars and so on. An arcade machine (currently in the kitchen). Loads of Cds, records, books and so on.

I also have a few interests on top of this, such as electronics repair, the occasional bit of artwork.

And here's what I do - most of the time, I game as I'm stuck in bed a lot of the time. It's great for keeping my mind active and the pain away. But I do get in a rut from time to time. So what I'll do is recognise I'm not insterested in games so much and simply put them to one side. Go and do something else, even if for a couple of weeks. Simple thing is that I have enough interests to rotate them in and out at leisure.

I mentioned drawing. I do like to draw but very, VERY rarely. I don't know why, but it is what it is. And so I never force it. I simply keep a pad to hand and if I want to do it, I do.

So in summary, NEVER EVER force things. You will end up resenting the hobby entirely.

Find something else and get into that for a couple of weeks. Come back when you wake up one day and think "yeah, I fancy having a game of x".

Lastly, on a smaller note - pay attention to your lifestyle too. Serotonin levels, or rather low serotonin is a BIG proponent of causing this. So make sure you're eating well, and if you're someone on a vegetarian diet make you're getting enough protein. If you're depressed or stuck in a bit of a rut, that too.

There are simple tricks for kicking yourself out of this (aside from the obivous dietary changes) - going for walks, or running, or some other exercise. Those are excellent for kicking your body up the arse.

Experiment with these and find out what is right FOR YOU.

Burnout like already mentioned. Just do something else for a few weeks, watch a few tv series or bunch of movies or read some books or do some other activity.
Late last year i was totally burned out on gaming and could not motivate me to play ANYTHING.
Everything was boring.

In February this year i finished 7 complete games and still have fun.
It comes and goes. Only thing i can tell you, it will come more often the older you get.
Which sucks but it is what it is.

Yep, can confirm OP that is happens to many - if not most - of us. I find doing some other hobby for a few weeks helps. Reading, drawing, sports, board games, watching series, whatever else interests you. Then try a game in a few weeks and see if that helped. If not, give it a few months. Getting stuck in a rut can be helped by breaking up your routine and how you spend your time.
Don't overdo gaming.

You can get burnout from a hobby just like you can get burnout from a job.

Simple answer is that you need a break. Spend time doing other stuff. Maybe take up playing basketball

I have felt the same way at times. When you're a kid and you don't understand how video games are made, they can be really magical. The world behind an invisible wall seems like it could be real; things like the neverending staircase in mario 64 feel like real life sorcery. As you play games more the magic wears away, and when you play video games a lot they can feel samey. Personally these days I specifically look for games like Outer Wilds that give you something you feel like you've never gotten in a video game before, but those games are increasingly rare.

Excellent point which I should have added. It does indeed come more frequently as you get older. I suspect it's something to do with less newer experiences.
