A new scam method? Bots posting comments on your profile.

Hello to every Steam community user,

recently I had to make the experience that I get comments by randoms posting the same comments over the time. I got curious what it's about and started searching those comments 1:1 on Google Search. I realized that those comments have been put on other profile's comments a lot but with different accounts.

I got comments like:

"hi, can you send me friend request? i cant add you, idk why"
"hey, i cant send you friend request, so can you add me please? its urgent"

I recommend you to search them up as well.

What is your experience and what do the Steam staff think about this? I'm excited to read your responses.

Nothing new. On profile you can just remove them. You could also report them and block the users.

This 'new' scam method was around in 2011.

Nothing new, but nowadays it seems they do this more than ever, i got 6 comments like that in a month, and some friends too. They aren't really bots, just stolen accounts by some scam centers from india or philippines, they are an organization, they do this on a lot of internet sites. Just search on yt or google and you will see.

Things come and go in waves. It's the nature of such things.

It doesn't mean anything except that they're chancers.
