Way to disable "ingame" status for some games?
Dear Friends,

Sometimes, the world has to know I'm playing Valheim, and the default "playing: Valheim" status on my profil is top notch.
And sometimes, the world may not care about me playing Crush Crush. Why so? Erm.. personnal business.

Or the opposite: I'm unsure the world has to know I'm playing a solo-local-closed-nonfriendly Valheim map, thus I prefer the world to think I'm actually idleing on Crush Crush instead. Sort of.

In a nutshell: Is it possible to mark games as invisible status-wise? (Without going Invisible or Offline, as I don't want to stay away from my Steam Contacts ~simply having a little privacy island for some activities.)

Thanks!

Plain and simple, not possible.
Setting yourself to "offline" or "invisible" in the client is the only way to not show what you are currently playing.
Or setting your entire profile/game details to "Private", even for friends.

Thanks Ogami, I just discovered the "Game details" privacy setting.
That's a workaround, as I'd gladely not restrain to friends-only my ingame activity ~if there was a way to choose which activities I'd display.

Reposting to Suggestions / Ideas as it looks like specifying which game changes statuses isn't possible yet.

forgive me for resurrecting an old thread, but i figured it out by accident. i installed a patch for Dragon Age called a 4gb patch (here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=233222451)

after installing, i can play the game through steam, but it doesnt show up. it never shows me as playing, it never shows my hours progressed, and the steam overlay is permanently disabled. this patch can be applied to any exe.

Applying this patch to other games may have a similar effect. try this at your own risk as it could possibly break certain files.

All you can do is manually remember to go invisble before you start.

To be frank if this is a concern to you, this should be easy to remember.
I think you might be able to turn off Friends in your Steam client but then sign in on the webchat on your own browser.
