maybe doing something constructive.. I dont know.. lol
I spend time on the forums, just like gaming it's a escape from real life for a short period of time, sometimes I get tired of talking work, football, women and other non related gaming stuff and sometimes I need to talk about my passion (gaming). At least on the forums I can chat, disagree, argue and get my thoughts and comments across with like minded people.
Believe it or not, in real life I only know a few gamer's and again only one is into gaming like I am. Rest of my friends and work buddies have no interest in games or gaming related stuff. Think im the odd one out here
Get your wife an account so she can meet up with you online :-)
This is gold lol
But on a serious note, as a married man myself, I respect you OP for realizing that maybe you should be spending more time with your wife than on Steam discussion boards. But at the same time, it's important for us to have our own "hobby" or "pasttime" of sorts to keep our mental health in check. If you enjoy hanging out on the forums, more power to you. I would just advise to be careful not to let it take control of your life.
Yeah, technically, there's ALWAYS something better to do. Learning an instrument, building an own fusion lab in your basement to strive for that nobel prize, on a purely inhuman level, there's always something better to do.
But humans don't live on bread (and beer) alone, we also need entertainment. Something our minds enjoy doing for the enjoyment, not because it will yield something later. So if you feel good doing it, how's that wasting time?
Well, the moment it becomes an addition, the moment you neglect things you really should do (such as cleaning your flat, cleaning yourself, working to earn money to pay rent for said flat & bread), that's a problem indeed.
Just take a look at me: I'm spending heaps of time online and I'm spending heaps of time gaming. Is it wasted time? Even disregarding the whole shizz of games I'm playing generally being involved enough to qualify as brain exersise (in contrast to games that reward time put in, no thought) as long as I don't neglect running my life, that's hardly wasted time.
