I said nothing against DayZ, the problem I have with it are server wipes and the fact that game engine is still doing things that Operation Flashpoint Resistance did when Nogova Virus and more advanced variants of it were still a thing aka zombie clipping through walls, glitchy construction system that was copied from MFCTI mod, mostly collision problems through melee and the ethernal desync question that still kicks in from time to time
I'm searching for something nearly permanent ala Urban Dead which is a stupid browser game I played many years ago, but it appears there is none.

You can set up your server with whatever custom rules you want or play on many custom servers with any kind of ruleset in place.

Yeah, heaven fobid someone has unusual tastes eh? We should definitely hang such deviants....
Of course not.
He's absolutely entitled to state what they like and I applaud them for doing so, because few do.
OP, on top of my previous suggestion for 7 Days to Die, I would also echo Project Zomboid. If you don't mind the old style isometric view, it's a really good game that strongly emphasises a unique take on survival.
I recommend you have a nose at a few players on Youtube first to get a feeel for it.
