Why are These Gem's not on steam

So I was searching through steam and noticed they don't got some of my old time Favorite Games feelsbadman but If you could have one game on steam from the list what would it be?

-Pure
-Prey
-Area-51
-Fable 3
-I-Ninja
-Sonic Riders
-Sonic Heroes
-Second Sight
-Enter The Matrix
-Ultimate Spider-Man
-The Simpsons: Hit & Run
-Pitfall: The Lost Expedition
-Need for Speed: Underground 2
-Tony Hawk's American Wasteland
-Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse
-The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
-The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay

Publishers didn't put them on Steam

Mind you the last two you really won't be seeing on here anytime soon because they have fallen into the abyss of expired licenses and very little escapes that hellhole especially when its such a big name brand that there is no way it could hope to sell enough to be considered worth the costs both sides would need to agree on.

I wouldn't say that. Bethesda owns the IP and since MS now own Beth (via Zenimax), it may actually come back out at some point.

Thanks for the replies I added another game to the list that I couldn't find I'm guessing its another licenses thing.. but anyways its more for fun I kinda had a feeling we would never see them on steam but it would be nice to have them in my steam library.

Human Head owned the IP, yes. But the rights for the game (and its canned sequel) is with 2K.
Which makes it pretty much impossible to have remaster.

Yeah another license thing. If its based off a film or other such propery, then there's a good chance it goes poof unless the developer and/or publisher are also the IP holder. For example the case with Starwars.

Area-51 is a cult classic and wasnt popular at release so i doubt it will ever get on steam, It was fun though while it lasted, I think pc port also had some issues irc

Yes they did and the publishers are the ones that pulled them due to the reason you stated.

However, if you bought them beforehand, you still have them.

I have Prey and some of the Riddick games.

You can still find keys for all of those games but they are not going to be cheap.

i would like to see the simpsons hit n run but id preferred soldier of fortune 1 and 2.

Where do you see that? There's archived news that Zenimax bought the rights in 2009.

That's a Shame these games are so good I was Expecting Steam to get these games first instead of all these R-rated games but I guess somethings just can't be done.
