Yeah, but how is steam handling the insults? Reported many people and deleted everything, but just wondering. I mean if I just report and do nothing, the insults are still on my profile. Is there some hidden rule not to delete what people write? Im just curious about the steps.
That said, there are options to report profile comments but I am unfamiliar with how they work. If at all.
Nor does moving the goalposts equal that you're right.
The fact is simply this. If a person insults you, REPORT, BLOCK, MOVE ON. Let Valve deal with them.
By engaging in the SAME behaviour it does not give you a get out of jail free card. You're simply now engaging in the SAME behaviour.
Ask yourself this. If you saw a car tearing along overtaking everybody obviously breaking the speed limit, and you go tearing after them, what do you think the police would say if they stopped both of you?
Would your defence of "I was chasing them because they were breaking the law" wash?
Of course not, you'd both be done for speeing and probably reckless endagerment.
The fact remains this - REPORT, BLOCK, and MOVE ON is not just simple, but it also saves you any ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ or being pulled into childish behaviour like this.
There is no excuse EVER for breaking the rules.
I was responding to YOU, and the point stands.
your example was defending (the law) while also breaking the law, but in many cases i have seen it is usually just defending without breaking the rules part
even something as simple as "leave this thread flamebaiter" could get someone banned
I was addressing the point entirely.
I never said you were wrong.
and "leave this thread flambaiter" is easily seen as flamebaiting itself. So that's why report, block and move on works.

I remember a time where I was simply stating that mods seem to censor certain types of criticism.
Funny enough, that post was deleted and censored. Apparently it was for “spamming”.
Because quite simply whenever people have claimed such a thing, a mod comes along and points out PREVIOUS posts that led up to that decision.
I'm not saying that's the case with yours, butwhile mistakes can happen, I doubt that's the case.
Generally speaking, mods on game related forums here can be a wild west as their managed by the appointees by the publishers themselves. In those cases, if they play up there's strict procedure to report them (and you can message a Steam mod too).
But for Steam mods themselves, I've never seen an issue that wasn't either reversed or explained fully.
But all I'm saying is it's very easy when you're the aggrevied party to think you were innocent, but that's rarely the case as it isn't ONE post that often makes the decision. It's what led up to it and your previous that gets taken into account.
Besides, pointing out censorship isn’t “spamming”, as my warning message claimed.
POinting out cesnorship CAN stil be considered spamming, or even flamebaiting. That's the point.
