No, you're not understanding.

If you have your question answered, it is not "please lock the thread". You LEAVE. See that "unsubscribe from discussion" button at the top? That's the one.

The point is, it ain't all about you. Even if you raise the question, it still carries on afterwards as it often finds use to others and can spark side discussions.
