I also have the Warframe Kubrow pet -- like everything in Warframe they are not like anything we know today, but the Wiki describes them as
http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Kubrow
Point being "canine-llike". As such, the wiki (I don't remember whether that's also an ingame term) even refers to newly incubated Kubrows as "puppies".
@sfnhltb I had a look at the game, are you sure it isnt a shovelware/cashgrab game?

I have spent over 600 hours now doing puzzles in it, so pretty sure I wouldn't categorize it as either of those, and the game has been in continuous development with more features and expansions added for well over a year now, so pretty much 100% the opposite of shovelware.
Obviously there is the fairly common usage of "cashgrab/shovelware" games as a synonym of "games I don't like", but that is a fairly useless definition given it is entirely subjective (i.e. no one can predict what anyone else would apply the terms to without knowing exhaustively their taste in games).
@sfnhltb Well actually, here in germany, we do have a definition. The term Shovelware describes the product of a company which only wants to make the most possible money with the least amount of work while disregarding or limiting the e.g innovation of a game. An example: Cookieclicker is a normal game, but adventure capitalist would be a candidate for a Shovelgame. The reason is the Cookieclicker devs did something new/different with old gameplay mechanics, while Capitalist just copied the idea and only changed the graphics.
Another example would be the Smartphone App market, we have companies like Bigpoint and Travian Games which only hired waste amount of developers, put them in 5 man teams and give them all the same gameconcept and what theme it should have. It is all the same game in the end.(That was also the reason why we do have this definition.)
There is nothing wrong with liking these games, but in my mouth this kind of game do give me a bad aftertaste, especially when I see other developers trying really hard to bring innovation to the gamemarket and die financially while doing it.
Now, the reason while I asked to confirm that Pixel Puzzle Ultimate isnt a Shovelgame was that the Basegame is Free while it has tons of DLCs which have (at least for me) a really high price for what you actually get. The Dog DLC for example only give you 6 Puzzles for 4$. That are 0.66$ for one Puzzle, which from the Storefront, looks like a still Image. Also a considerable amount of reviews are exactly about that, so it looks fishy to me.
I will download the game in the next days and have a closer look, so for now I wont add it in the list until I tried it.
UPDATE: Okay I have played a little and can say it is not shovelware, so it will be added. :) But I still think the DLC policy they have is crap.
lol
Oh, of course, there's also Duck Hunt's dog.
And Animal Crossing has K. K. Slider, the guitarist dog.
The Turbo Pug series
Petz : Dogz
on DS:
Nintendogs
This isn't really a list of all notable dogs in videogames, nor a list of all dogs in notable videogames, but it is a start.
