You neither know the item that got a reward or who send it.
The one who sends the award gets a email though with a link to the item he awarded.
Thanks for your response, i appreciate it.
That answers my question perfectly :)
You'll get a notification through e-mail that you have received one or more rewards. It will tell you for which item(s) but you don't get to see who rewarded you:
This is followed by a list of things for which you've been rewarded. It tells you what it was (in my case reviews) and which rewards have been given.
Yeah, nope. I got 37 awards so far and did not get a single email for any of them.
I got one for every of the 35 awards i gave out though.
Right now you get a notification through e-mail.
Got 4 awards the last few days.
Which i did not get any email for any of them.
So unless this was introduced in the last 48 hours its not working on my end.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Edit: Just asked a friend to give me an award to test.
Counter on the badge went up from 37 to 38.
HE got the " you send an award to XXX" email.
Nothing on my end, neither in the normal post entry, not spam or anything.
And before you ask, yes, all other mails by Steam (buying games, charging wallet and so on) arrive normally.
So, maybe its working like you described for some users but definitely not for me so far.
i don't think most people realize your spending 1$
just to have an icon next to a review, artwork or guide,,,
tbh i think steam added it so people would waste their coins
you know each sale is gonna have new animated backgrounds and pfp
idk why anyone would wanna spend their coins on pointless awards.
considering these pfp, frames and backgrounds are about 2k coins (or 20 USD)
should be saving them, don't wanna be that guy who short a few hundred coins off your desired item.
You can compare it with people donating to Twitch streamers i guess.
Because the author of the review will also get 100 points with each award they recieve.
So basically you are donating some points with taxes to a review you like. xD
