Purchased Rainbow Six: Siege Digital from GameStop, code invalid...

I bought Siege using a GameStop Giftcard I had left over and they send me a redeemable code. It said to redeem it from Steam, so I went to tried to redeem the game. At first I copy pasted the entire code with the dashes, then without the dashes, then I typed it myself with and without the dashes. No matter what I do, it always says my code is not valid. I bought the code on August 1st, 2020, so it's pretty much brand new. Anything I could do?

Did you try on Uplay?, since its a ubisoft title

i also can't seem to find any online stores, where the key is for steam

You should try in in uplay. I doubt Ubisoft would sell steam keys of their games on other sites.

Ubisoft games not purchased through Steam are likely to be Uplay keys and not Steam keys.

To use the key, you will need to download and install the Uplay client and add the game there.

Only Ubisoft games purchased on Steam go through here - physical retail and externally purchased keys are always uPlay ones.

At the bottom of the digital receipt it told me to redeem it from Steam, but I will try to use UPlay and we will see. Hopefully it works. The code is 15 digits too.

Ubisoft does not give out Steamkeys for their games. They prefer their own platform, UPlay.
Not the first time that Gamestop failed through their own incompetence.

To everyone who said UPlay, thank you. It finally worked and everything is downloaded. For some reason when I got it from GameStop, it was telling me to use Steam so that was the problem. Nothing told me to go to UPlay. Once again, thanks guys.
