Most people who bother to read this post are already well aware.
I'm glad it removed the link.

I wasn't aware of this, mostly because I don't play CS:GO or Dota 2, but I play TF2 occasionally with some friends, good to know in-case something like this happens within my friend group.

Then should also know to avoid any and all links/third party sites and to only trade through Steam with all items from both parties present.

Posting this is usually just an indirect advertisement for the site.

I just recently had a steam friend chat me up about voting for their team on a certain site and when I visited the site and clicked one of the buttons it prompted me to log in using my steam account which made me check the site's rep (which was nonexistent). I proceeded to tell my friend that the site was suspicious and they should change their password if they logged in there. Moments later the person unfriended me :lunar2019laughingpig:

If you have to bypass the filter then you know the answer.

It also doesn't matter how these sites are dressed up - they are phishing sites. If any friend sends you such links then report and block them. Their accounts may be hijacked or your friends are trying to scam you.

ANY site that requires a login when you have logged into steamcommunity.com in the same broswer is a phishing site.
So if in doubt, log into the original steamcommunity.com and be aware that malicious sites can do more than just phishing for login information.

Golden rule: if in doubt, don't.
Unpolished golden rule: if it looks too good to be true, it is.
