Been Conned by Novaplay/Steam
hello Guys,

Today at 3 May 2020 at 11:58 Am i saw sale on ASSASSINS CREED Game. so i added up ASSASSINS CREED 2 Deluxe Edition, Assassins Creed ORIGINS Deluxe Edition and Assassins Creed Odessy in my cart. All costing exactly Rupees 2032 /- ( $ 26.95 ). I was doing the payment on my Steam desktop app by domestic debit card. it as usual took me to novaplay window but this time showed this error saying SSL certificate error. i Thought there might be problem with my steam desktop app or something so i opened up my chrome browser. Logged In and did same. Went through purchasing process filled up my details and now i was again on NOVAPLAY process. Everything worked fine. i putted up my details and everything and NOVAPLAY did all the transaction as it does usually. After all the process there at novaplay i automatically got back to steam cart window where it showed working on transaction. After 15 minutes of Processing the transaction, it showed payment failed. I received the message from my bank that money has been debited from my account and here it shows payment failed. i dnnt got games in my library.

DAMN!! i dnno what to do.

Apparently novaplay has been dissolved for 2 years, maybe you should check to see that it *actually is what you think it is*.

Novaplay is NOT STEAM.

It is NOT a steam issue.

Contact NOVAPLAY only.

bro i have been doing all the transactions on steam by this only because i have domestic Card. this happened to me first time and i tried but there site is dead.
Zekiran 3. mai 2020 kl. 0.55
Then WHY did you USE it?

The site is dead = you're being scammed by whoever took your money, which is NOT steam.

Steam Used novaplay ( a third party website ) to handle transactions in INDIA, I am facing the same problem since 2 days, today is Day 2. There is no technical help whatsoever.
Verdict 3. mai 2020 kl. 0.59
bro there is no other option. been doing it from so much time. Like a couple days ago also i bought Games and with same process. Everything worked fined then and prefect.

After this failed transaction i went to there site to see this.

i am not at all directly blaming steam but my money is lost. I dnno what to do now.

No one knows what to do , It has blocked all transactions on steam from INDIA and there is no help from steam, Try posting something on reddit, a lot of indian users have to report so that steam could know this is happening.
Verdict 3. mai 2020 kl. 1.03
This is seriously NO JOKE. it really breaks the trust of doing transactions on steam. I am literally worried and have no clue what to do.

are you a mod?

Well, the problem seems obvious: Novaplay's website is temporarily out of commission. It would seem they let their SSL certificate expire; this SSL certificate is required for a website to set up an encrypted connection.

The problem though is that the validity is timed: certificates have an expiration date. Once we pass that date then most modern browsers will refuse you access to it, for obvious reasons.

So your best option here is to either contact Steam support, or to wait for Novaplay to get their mess together. In the end it's Novaplay who seriously screwed up here.

Update: Their certificate expired 2-5-2020 and was issued by GoDaddy (they have a wildcard certificate for *.novaplay.in), also see here:

So.... your best option is to wait for Novaplay to fix their mess. I would most certainly complain about their incompetence (because that's what this is!). Any admin who is worth their while knows this: you know the expiration date the very moment you purchase a certificate.

except India always has done it this way.

Contact Steam support to see if they can give you a solution. That's really your only option as you won't get much help on these forums other than obvious advice and opinions.

Except you DIDN'T DO A TRANSACTION on steam. You did it on a 3rd party site.

That is bad advice. Steam support can not assist you with issues related to third party sites.

Steam support cannot assist you with 3rd party transactions. Anyone can have a store front and claim they are selling steam games. Your only recourse it to contact your credit card company ff the site is now fradulent

Have patience. It's weekend and there is less support staff working due to COVID-19, I believe.

Nothing here on the forums to be solved, we're only users like you. Work with support, they're the only ones who can help you in this.
