Resetting them using SAM is a popular method for all achievement speedruns in many games and I have no memory of anyone getting trouble for that!
You're free to lock up achievements, but do not use it on few games such as Payday 2 the developers may ban, although there is a remove function (for example, TF2 has remove achievements button).
Other than that, you should be good.
Achievements don;t affect other users, and they can't possibly tell how you got them, except unless they study and find something impossible in there.
That's the thing some people don't seem to grasp, as I was trying to tell someone his a few days ago - even if you know someone uses SAM, you CANNOT know which they've used it on or when. So it cant possibly affect you.
They stopped that a while back.
