Ergo you should CHANGE your behavior so that you don't do as many refunds
Note that once you get the warning, you can, at any point in the future, be unable to make refunds anymore on Steam.
Thus you should
THINK VERY HARD when you purchase a game. "If I buy this and can't refund it, will that be ok?"
If you want a refund
THINK VERY HARD "If I ask for this refund and I lose the ability to do any more refunds in the future, will that be ok"
If you cannot contorl yourself, that isnt a steam problem. You abusing the refund system, is a problem.
From the day I bought my first game or in some specific time?
Just wait for a while. Nobody can tell yet on what metric they base their warnings. It can be anything from "money value over the last thirty days" to "total number of items in the last year". And both of them are just examples pulled from my arse, so don't base anything on them.
Wonder too how many refunds are "too many"
Maybe Steam should be clear about how many refunds per month you can request.
No they shouldn't.
All that would do is people turning refunds into a demo service by refunding exaclty to the limit.
Instead customers should be driven to make more informed decision and not impulse buy. Whether on Steam or elsewhere.
I'm not abusing the system. I just have buyers regret every so often about some games. I got that warning during the last big sale, and that's when I do most refunds. I was just wondering when can I request refund again.
take several months off from refunding anything (try 6 to 10 months to be safe). no one here can tell you how long you should avoid refunding, we can only guess. but its best if you are not refunding anything at all. Take more time researching the game before you buy it.
the refund system is there to provide some protection (game doesnt work on your system, the game was not what was advertised, etc). its not there for you to figure out if you like the game. refunding a game once in a while is fine, but not as often as you are refunding.
Typically you get the warning after about 3-6 refunds in a 6 month period and once you get it you will get it for every refund after that until you haven't for about 12 months.
Now every refund after you get the warning can also be a trigger for either a more stern warning or a ban from refunds so think carefully whether it is worth it before refunding. Also to be clear this was my experience in my roughly 15 refunds since the system has existed.
I have refunded a lot (but I also purchase a massive amount of games) and I would suggest targetting a rate of around 1 in 20 games or less which means adjusting your approach:
* More gameplay watching
* Not refunding if the game is too cheap
* Reading reviews more critically
* Working out what exactly you enjoy in games
Cant confirm this. First it depends not on the amount of games refunded in a certain time frame, it depends on games bought and percentage refunded of those in a certain time frame.
Buy 5 games and refund 3 of those in a short time = warning.
Buy 30 games and refund 5 in that time = no warning.
Also its not 12 months after receiving a warning, its about 3 months before the warning gets removed.
From my own experience. Of course that also depends on how much games you bought in the meantime.
If you did not buy any new games and the first one you do you want to refund the warning will still be there.
If you bought a bunch of games during these weeks the warning will be gone with nearly 100% probability.
Sounds like you are abusing Valve's Refund Policy if you have to ask when you can request a refund. Only someone from Valve support can answer your question. If I was such person, I would say you're done with refunds but that's my not call.
As for when. Wait a month. The thing is, you on;y get like two warnings before you're barred from refunds. You've gotten number 1.. I'd stronly suggest ,limiting your purchases for the next year or so.
