My review of a game I paid $30 for is flagged "Received for Free"
I bought Dwarrows not long ago, I've been playing it, and I decided to leave a review.

For some reason, the review had the "Product Received for Free" tag added to it. It's possible I accidentally clicked it - when I went to edit the review, I found it was ticked, so I unticked it and saved, but that didn't update the review.

I then deleted and re-wrote my review, since searching the forums here suggested other people have done that successfully. Unfortunately, my new review also says I received the product for free.

How do I fix this? I paid over $30 for this game - the review should reflect that.

I checked your profile, found the review, and it doesn't mention anything about having received the product for free. So I think you may have had some issues with your browser cache.... try forcing a reload next time.

Huh, that's interesting. I've cleared my browser cache and restarted the Steam client to check; it appears to show "Received for Free" if I look at it on the game page, but it doesn't show the free tag on my own profile's list of reviews, or when I view the review on its own page.

I wonder if it's just some kink that needs a few hours to be worked out on Steam's end, or if there's some other local data I just haven't cleared.

Are you sure it's not just a tick box? Because iirc that box is there for YOU to indicate that you got it for free?

Unticking that didn't help.

What seems to have helped is deleting the review and rewriting it, though. While initially it seemed nothing happened, after an hour or two I checked back and the flag was gone from my review on the store page (it disappeared almost immediately from my profile review list and from the dedicated review page).

I also submitted a support request to Steam; I haven't received any response, but it's also possible they fixed it behind the scenes and just didn't get back to me, I guess.
