What makes people add a game to Wishlist but not buy it?
Do people wait for the right price? Even when the game is already on sale, they might wait for a lower price?
Maybe they wait for more reviews or any review?
Maybe they want to see the developer is updating the game?

So what makes people add a game to a wishlist but not buy it?

I rarely have money for games so my wishlist is starting to be torture.

I know exactly what you mean and i agree something changed and not for the better. When i first started playing BF3 i was at the time playing alot of CSGO (even making maps) and DOD Source. I was amazed and how real BF3 was, almost frighting real, but i loved it. Even with its flaws i still think its is the best of the series. Why they changed it after BF4 i dont know.

But yes i agree there is some very serious lag in online games today especially with any of the new releases and this is all FPS not just BF. Many times in BF1 i was standing right behind someone and with a shotgun i shot them in the head, they turned around and 1 shot killed me, its crazy.

I am told that the single player version of BF is pretty darn good but i dont know because i have never played it. I assume other titles have the same experience in single play mode.

I was excited when the game servers started using balancers to balance out the pings to make it alittle more even, but even that does no good when someone is sitting 5 miles from the server and the other person is sitting 1000 miles away. Balancers can only achieve so much blance.

So i dont know what the answer is to that question of how to make it evenly rewarding. I assume there is still some technology that someone is working on that is still in its infancy that will solve that issue. We may not see it in our lifetimes but one day it will be cracked.

I may try one of the BF single players, who knows i might enjoy it... :)

the main problem is, even with the most direct connection possible, the lowest ping possible between one side to the other side of the world is around 400ms, at 60 fps that comes to 24 frames of lag, 120 that would be 48 frames and 144 it would be 58 frames, now that's an absolute best case scenario, and let's be honest just across america we can get well over 300 ping with a server in the center, most of the people I play against tend to be in that 100-400 ms range and they are all america based. I want to say its lag compensation, but you also have to factor in consoles,

till recently tv's had metric ♥♥♥♥ tons of input lag, in the neighborhood of an amazing tv ONLY have int 160ms of lag, again, this has gotten drastically better with mid range tvs being better then some computer monitors for gaming (absolute lag is not pixels response time for anyone who wants to argue with me, every single number on the box besides resolution and overall dimensions of the display are lies, but again, display dimensions have also gotten better at least if you buy within the west) with many being a half second or more, and even then, controllers have a good 60ms input lag and even plugged in tend to have about 30ms, so compensation on both the hardware and the server is likely at play and due to console first, many games likely screwed themselves over hard on pc this way.

like I said, I feel the lag, local lan was amazing for quake and unreal, online... stuttery but doable, but recent games compensate to much. overwatch probably has it the best, with attacker's advantage but beyond that... I can't understand how people play some games like fighting games online.

I have my wishlist as a pseudo i'm interested filter, anything not on it is ignored.
Also that. A much more manageable option than "Follow".

The lack of a proper sale. Games that's never went even 50% off stay on my wish list.

There are early access games people may not want to buy until they leave early access.

8ullfrog 2/dez./2019 às 22:09
ReBoot how do you feel about old games that sit around $59.00 so they can do a meaningless 50% discount once a year?

I'll buy them on that 50% discount.

I follow them instead of adding to the wishlist. That way I keep getting news on updates on my feed, which I found to be a better way to gauge development progress and the state of the game.
Only when they reach the point I'm interested enough to buy it I add them to the wishlist.
Aahzmandias 3/dez./2019 às 2:14
The price. Simple as that.

I suggested once, Valve should add a price tag that I can set to be noticed, if the price drops below that, even adding an autobuy option. for a certain price tag.

An entry on wishlist means nothing in itself, because we have all different opinions, what a certain game is worth for us personally. A price tag we could add would even give the general interest a value.

Take as example the old Atelier games in my wishlist. Where is no way in hell I will ever pay more than 5 Euro for the older ones. And it would be nice, if the publishers would get that memo from us. That way they were even able to make individual offers for each of us.

But if they don not want that, I cannot force them to get more money..

I have over 5000 games on my Wishlist :D

oh man, that auto buy, like, people are angry NOW, that would unleash like, balrogs.

Like, it would be the users own fault for using the flag, but they'd find a way to blame valve, I'm sure.
