few are on my list because want to play them but until I have memory space I can't buy them and one or 2 were not released for sale at the time I added them. And I do go through them from time to time removing those I have decided against buying, I did that only last week.
So basically the wish list is a way for me to keep track of games I am interested in, but not right now. And when I am looking for a new game, and its not in my library I can look at the wishlist. Alternativly it also allows me to purchase these games when they are on sale.
Basicly a quarter of the release price. DRM games that I never being able to own are not worth more than that.
I already made the suggestion to Steam add a price field, where I can insert my target price, to be notified if the price is equal or less to that inserted price.
Maybe even with an automated purchase option.
Other people found that silly. I still think it would be a nice feature to have.
1. waiting for the right price. These days, I can wait quite a while since I have a pretty sizeable backlog of games already, and so I often only buy stuff that's discounted beyond -50% (preferably -75%) and $5 or less.
2. for Early Access games, waiting for them to get out of Early Access.
I also wish the followed list was integrated into the wishlist as a sort feature. My followed list usually are EA games, non released, concepts, etc. A lot of them get abandoned or dont reach funding.
And these days I also have a huge backlog. If I didn't I might be more inclined to pay more to get games...?
I formerly had a small habit of buying gift copies of games I enjoyed and giving them to friends. This was possible with Steam's gift inventory system, but that has since been disabled, so I've stopped.
But for this purpose, it was also useful to keep a second wishlist, one where I'd get notified if stuff went on sale, but for games that I already owned. I have a second account whose only function was this. It has not been used in a long time.
