In some ways it's the Apple's walled garden vs Google's free range debate. Which one is best depends on what you value.

1.3 hrs on record
Well Dark Souls... played for about 2 hours before I felt my soul being drained from my body. I like a challenge but man alive this game is in a league of its own, the bosses are insane and the gameplay just is not my style at all. If your in the mood for a smash the **** out off your PC then buy all means by this game.
Did not encounter any cheaters like many other people have stated but hey maybe I already reached the point of wanting to rip my eyes out before I found any.
Maybe I will return to this game sometime soon but feel like I have wasted £35 to be honest."
That you would buy Dark Souls and then get mad because it's challenging...I honestly can't tell if you're trolling or not. That's literally what Dark Souls is known for.
But hey, if you think Xbox and PSN don't release any crappy games then by all means, no one is making you use Steam.

Just because those two shove the same few options under your nose constantly (usually because they have been paid to) while steam leaves everything out in the open apart from certain section based on your friends and your own history does not mean they have better systems.
Quality control would mean more employees. That would cost more money. And that is the last thing, they will do.
So, yes, this is one of the worst shops regarding quality on this planet.
Nothing can change that. They don't even allow you to use restrictive filters for this dumpster. They can and will ignore your settings. Because they think it will lessen their profits. Not understanding, that ignoring their customers decisions will lead them to ignore their shop inventory as a whole.
I gave up on searching something useful here long ago, and buy most games elsewhere, using Steam only as download archive for games I bought from official 3rd party key sellers.
If you are looking for sales for legitimate keyseller, this is a good point to start:
https://www.reddit.com/r/GameDeals/
They only promote legal sources of keys.
For a more specific search use https://isthereanydeal.com/. That helps, if you know what you are looking for. It only lists legitimate sources of keys, too.
I prefer legal sources, because I think it is important that the devs get their money for their games.
You're probably looking in the wrong part of Steam, somehow. But I get that more, I see threads about crap games I didn't even know existed.
It's an open platform, so anybody can post their games. Some major publishers are less on Steam, for example EA.
You can't really compare the console stores with the PC store. On my consoles (360 and PS4) I usually play the AAA titles. Through Steam it's Indie games.
In the end it all depends what you look for in a store.
Steam defaults to using the money in your steam wallet.
If there not enough money in the wallet then you will be asked to choose a secondary payment method.
Here you can choose between credit card, paypal and a lot of other methods from a dropdown.
Steam does do two steps payment, the first page is Steam wallet automatically selected, and if you have not enter an address + name for Steam wallet before that what the page literally asking for, if need pictures I show you if you want, now the 2nd page it takes you afterwards is asking how you want to pay for the remaining amount using external payment such as credit card, or etc, hence it being two step payment process, as it to give people options to choose if they want to use their Steam wallet, or not, or with a 2nd payment method in same transaction.
