You and me both but of late it seems to be growing faster than I can trim. Or maybe I'm just getting easier.
That's what she said.
But yeah... It is really tempting to put many games I view as average on there just in case I feel like something different. But I just hold off and go through my queue and not mark them not interested so they will come back around. Maybe I'll get them then...?
Isthereanydeal polls my Steam wishlist for changes, so I use it to quickly get a game on the waitlist. The waitlist has a couple more entries, though, as it can hold DLCs and various bundles that can't be wishlisted.
There is certainly bloat on mine, mostly because I use it as an "Interested" list rather than a "Wish" list. Plus I keep it synced with IsThereAnyDeal.
The bloat occurs almost every month as I do a custom search for non-indie upcoming games.
The only thing slowing me down is my own self-disgust at the backlog I've built.
Add the content flipper hell called steam direct, and you can understand why I do not wishlist much games any more.
Additionally are most of the games on other platforms cheaper on sales. So no need to wishlist them here either any longer. I have only feature complete japanese titles on my wishlist, if I think about it ... Games I mostly only can buy here ...
And maybe a backlog from over 500 titles helps to keep me restrained, too.
Now I go back to my modded to hell Skyrim "second life emulator". :)
I have no reason to "whittle it down".
My "wishlist" isn't even complete; I use it as a shortcut to get stuff onto the isthereanydeal waitlist, but I might also just add it to the waitlist directly. Especially games that have "bundle editions", when I only want to "wishlist" the bundle, not the basegame.
Regardless of that, the wish/waitlist acts just like a list of potentially interesting things. I usually do another round of checking when a good deal comes up, and I've ignored things forever that I should probably remove, but... that's extra work.
