How can I tell if my close friend has blocked me

So about a year ago, my computer broke and I lost all communication with everyone on the Internet and I didn't know a few people IRL. My computer is still broken but I have found a way to get back on the Internet. once I got myself back into my old accounts I noticed that I had one friend missing from my friends list and I was able to figure out who he was.

It concerned me to find it was one of my close friends who I had lost contact with over the years that my computer was broken. I was able to get my old Discord account back and I found that I still had him on direct messaging but it looked like he had either unfriended me on Discord as well or he had blocked me. And I wasn't able to send him any messages.

I went back to my old steam profile and I found an old comment that he had left so I decided to check his account, but he had changed his name and his profile was now private so I have no idea How to contact him. I still don't know if he actually blocked me or if he just unfriended me and this is just a huge misunderstanding.

I feel really bad because he was actually a really enjoyable friend to play with. And I would really look forward to being able to get back in contact with them either on steam or discord, but neither of those platforms have a way to look up how many people have blocked you in particular. I was wondering if there was any simple way of finding these things out. I was also wondering if there was anyway I could get back in contact with my friend.

I just hope that he didn't block me on purpose to get me back for not being there.

I Feel like I have grown significantly since this post, and to be honest, I think its pretty stupid and embarrassing. If I could go back in time, or delete this, I would.

If i attempt to send a text message to the friend a bot will reply with; "Your message could not be delivered because you don't share a server with the recipient or you disabled direct messages on your shared server, recipient is only accepting direct messages from friends, or you were blocked by the recipient." and my message will be canceled

So the person unfriended you, their profile is private. Doesn't take much to figure out that you need to move on.

Friends come and go, just move on.

I had a friend a few montsh ago removed me as a friend for no reason after knowing and playing with him since our xfire days since around 2005ish, but I think removed everyone and made his profile completly private since he's working a lot.

none of this answers my question, just to refresh everybody's memory, the question is did he block me or did he go missing himself/stop using steam.

@lommemannen, it will let me send him a friend request, but his profile is private so I don't think I can check his login dates

No, this is to prevent people from being stalked on steam, which seems to be working quite well judging from your obsession about finding out what they're doing. In other case, if you're blocked, you're blocked, nothing can be done about it on your end.

@ The living tribunal. I take a little bit of offense, I'm not obsessed, but I can see why you would think I am. I can live if I never get to see him again. Thank you for your comment and your input I appreciate that you have stopped by. But, I don't think you really fully understand my position, we knew each other in real life, but The Way that our daily schedules worked the Internet was really the only form of communication, this is why I am so "obsessed" with the topic.
