Tools view, what is Proton
I have 4 versions of a tool called Proton under "tools" in steam, what is it? I get NO clues when I select any menus from there. Why does any tool I click on, just take me to a generic page for the publisher. What is Proton?

Can steam prevent apps publishing a "tool" without a forum or a review-link page? Tools have review option, but you cannot post a review for them, so the menu system feels broken in offering selection for something that does not work. Due to the brilliant UI I cannot go to that page now without loosing this post, else I would do a screenshot. But my question is, how do I see what tool is what when I have hundreds available?

Different versions of the compatibility tool that allows windows games to run on Linux, Proton is essentially the backend for SteamPlay and is based on WINE (another Linux program that enables windows programs to run on Linux)

The tools listing would likely have been put their by Valve to allow people to download the relevant versions they want. It can't be installed on Windows.

Hm... sounds like a bug to me. If a software doesn't have a port for the current platform (and it really wouldn't make sense to port Proton to Windows anyway...), they should not be shown in the library at all.

Thanks Jester, that sounds right.
Would really like steam to sort out all the apps published to have some kind of feedback loop as mandatory, but it was a sunny day and I as on my way to a picnic to enjoy it, so thanks for doing the brain work for me there :-)
