Remove the tasteless "hentai" games!

Its really sad that most of what I see is either meme games or "hentai" games. Please go back to having at least some content standards to minimize the amount of tasteless games and games that are explicit just to be explicit. There is no substance anymore. Honestly debating switching to Epic.

yep no arguments here about the vast majority being crap just that the majority of it has the art style it does because of ease rather than anything else and people hating it specifically for that style is down to the amount of it rather than any love or hatred of Japan or Japanese things.

That category just so happens to be mostly hentai so people hating on that category (as do I, by the way) will stumble upon hentai first and foremost.

But anyways the reason I posted on here was originally in an attempt to add to a discussion or to curb the discussion a bit towards what I think I see happening and thus what I would offer as a solution is that steam should perhaps consider expanding on the definition of the category 'adult'. Where at this point in time I believe it's far too broad of a term. And thus, out of respect index for people's personal life choices etc. Otherwise it makes me or maybe other people wonder why this garbage is being paraded by my eyes in such volume. Then other people respond with musings jesting after a cause for such effect. But honestly I'm trying to shove that aside including all incoming ad hominem judgemental derailment attempts toward the discussion and try to be mature enough to focus it back on the point in trying to make. The fact these threads keep popping up here perchance is evidence of its relevance and one in which 'bcuz ppl r dum' achieves nothing but a confirmation bias for epeeners who fancy themselves as pushing downwards. I am not innocent of being human myself. Of course I've made mistakes in my life. But in turning towards a steam community threadzone to find what I can about this subject there was a thread right near the top of the pile. I can only fathom this subject will just keep popping up as more users such as myself have a similar experirnce. So again: Its an entire category of 'stuff' which I have no interest in and which simply disabling 'adult' filter would be counterproductive. Thus for lack of better terminology I would think smut, hentai or anime porn should be respectable enough categories to stand proudly on their own.

These threads keep popping up because some people think their "moral superiority" gives them the right to tell everyone else what they can and can't enjoy.

Value is quite subjective. I'd say there's less than 500 games in the whole world that have any real value. The rest are inferior versions or otherwise offer no real entertainment.

the sollution need not be one of dismissal for that which is already established, but in a genuinely respectful categorization of smut,hentai,anime porn,pedo-dating sims etc. games in which sexuality is the central theme which one can electively choose not to view,

This won't happen, it's one of the largest and most popular genres on Steam so ValvE won't be getting rid of them as it's good money maker.

You can block the tags and ignore these titles on the store pages if you don't want to see them.

Going through the Discovery Queue these days is some really depressing stuff, just endless rubbish, stuff that was obviously made by 1 person with a budget of a few hundred bucks with freely available assets. These are not games, they are third-world people trying to scam money (the hentai puzzle games are deliberately targeted at dumb horny kids). Steam has become a literal garbage dump.

Eventually it will kill the entire indie scene on Steam, the market will become completely flooded with garbage and customers will lose faith in the quality of all indie games. The result being that only AAA games made by big corporations will be successful because they have the assurance of high budget and production values. Why do you think Epic Games Store is growing so fast? They have a curated collection and customers aren't flooded with crap.

Good point. It would be nice to have the porn filter (pardon, adult-only filter) be subdivided into "actual games with pornographic sub-content" and "cheap wank material" so people like, i.e. me, could filter out said cheap wank material while still getting the actual games.

Also they can be made quickly and with little effort.

That doesn't mean there aren't worthwhile ones that had time and effort put in just that those chasing easy money will go for the simplest route.

And those are of course the vast majority for this very reason henceforth I don't blame people geberalizing "hentai=chep crap" because any random hentai game is likely to be cheap crap.
