Im not quite sure what your question is about?

Steam features text / voice chat and other social features, yes.

https://steamcommunity.com/chat/

You can also send game invites to users on your friends' list.

Wow! I wasn't really expecting someone to read and reply back to this post right away because of the time difference where I am or something of that nature but ok whatever and this combines with my first question but do you have any friends on your friends list again because you must know about the join game button underneath where it said's if they're online or in-game on their Steam page right Zetikla?

The join game option, just allows you to run the game on your client - if you own it.

It just executes a web browser protocol to do so.

steam://run {appid}

It doesn't connect you to any server that they're on or anything too extraordinary.

Just to make one thing clear for me Robin3sk when people say client are they talking about the Steam software platform you have installed on your computer or whatever device it's downloaded too because the only client I know is some kind-of legal term where a person hired someone to help them manage money or something other then money?
Basic questions are often answered already in the internet.
Use a searchengine to type your question.

Let us know how that went for you.

You can always go up to the top of the Steam hubs and find the "new to Steam" section. it's the very top.

Look around in there, I'm sure there are pieces of information available for what you need.

I read another persons post and also watched a YouTube video on setting up Steam and it looks like both of them are saying or indicated the Steam client is basically another word for downloading and using their application or did I missread that commenter?

That's what a software "client" is, yes.

An app, if you're not very well versed in PC stuff but know phone terms - Steam downloads to your computer, and then when you wish to play a game, buy something from the steam store, or do any trading, chatting, etc, you open it up and can use it like a web page on a browser.

It keeps your games up to date, and keeps track of your achievements in the games, sometimes even stores saves on its own cloud (though always keep your own! sometimes cloud saves go bad). You can upload screenshots you've taken in games, even artwork and such.

Your right I'm not that tech savvy when it comes to just about any device out there like some people might be and I am not trying to indicate your a technical geek like Geek Squad from Best Buy or Staples but let me get this straight are you saying I downloaded the application to my computer and I'm using Steam's client when I login to the application I installed Zekiran?
Zekiran Sep 21, 2019 @ 11:16pm
Yes, you are using it right now.

Do you see the big "STORE LIBRARY COMMUNITY YOUR NAME HERE" across the top of the window it's in? Everything in that window, which you can X out of (but closing requires another step) is the 'Steam Client' interface.

I'd suggest take some time and click around on it, familiarize yourself with the things you can reach from each tab - the Steam section on the top allows you access to your account and other such background things, the View shows you your games, music, steam friends, etc, that kind of thing.

There are folders installed on your hard drive that have the Steam executable and program files, as well as space for your games - including screenshots, modifications and addons if the game uses them, all that kind of thing. If you have some games, sometimes they use your MY DOCUMENTS folder for storing bits, too, so you might suddenly discover "hey why is there this game folder in documents I didn't create that" Steam did it when it installed the game.

Down at the bottom of the window you'll also see a DOWNLOADS word, which helps when you have games that need to be updated - sometimes they do it by themselves, but if you don't want them to you can set them to only do so when you need to play, or make a game update sooner than others on a list.

Also be aware that there's a new re-done version in Beta right now - there are threads about it all over the place, people are testing it. I'd suggest WAITING for that to finish up and release, if you don't already know what Steam does and how it does it. Likely it'll only be changing visually, with some added functions, but if you're new, it'll be ... newer. :)

And no I'm just a regular user like you - but I've been on Steam a very long time, and I really do like to see people enjoying their experience, so I try and help where I can.

When do you think this Steam update is going to come out fully because I did not watch it but I saw a video on YouTube that said something about the new Steam client update and I don't think I have it yet unless Vales new interface came through already when I started Windows and didn't see it and also these questions might be off the original subject but why do games you download get stored into your documents folder shouldn't they get stored into their own individual folder like Skyrim for instance Zekiran.
Right click game, properties, local files to see where they are

As much as I don't want to leave you guy's hanging I am afraid need to get some sleep because I have work in the afternoon but if I remember I'll login and continue this conversation even if I wasn't really getting the Steam client and the application you download are the same-thing witch I'm understanding the person that replied to the post I said earlier was right it seems.

As for why games get downloaded to your documents folder that's kind-of knew to me and someone might needs to explain that to me I mean I think I know the reason why some games get put in their sometimes but again I'm not that tech savvy sorry?
