bc i use very vague community names :) often there's multiple "mara"'s or "margo"'s.. i guess you didn't think of that?

Your login name is not used for the search. And you should NEVER give it away. It's half of your login data and when there is another password reset exploit, your account goes down the drain.

Either create a unique profile URL or just give the profile link via text chat if possible.

Margo is your profile name. Never share with anyone your login name. As your profile name is common; it's best to send people your direct URL so they can locate you. Your login name should be known to you and you only.

ppl give their login names all the time. that was the only way i would give ppl my username years ago.

You still don't seem to understand. Steam NEVER shows the login name to anyone but yourself, so it would be counterproductive to include it in searches.

It's considered to be a secret, which is not the worst idea. There are a lot of bad things to complain about, but Steam is doing the right thing here.

No they don't. A login name is for you to sign into your account with. Giving it away is giving someone 50% of your sensitive information required to access your account. If you want to give someone your details; give them either a) your profile username which is visible and public and/or b) your Steam URL.

Give your friend this link http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198070793203 which is a direct link to your profile. Then your friend can press the Add friend button without a problem.

I too dont really understand how the search bar work. Whenever i ask ppl to search my profile name it doesnt appear in the results. Does it have to do with the profile privacy settings?

Plenty of suggestions in the thread ...

Create a custom profile URL. It will be used in search and people can easily access it via a browser.

It doesnt really work well that way. When you meet people in game they would just search ur profile name to add u because its simpler, especially the case in pubg

It appears now. Whenever you change your profilename, it takes a while for the new name to pop up in the search results. So if you care about being found, stop changing your name.
