Final Fantasy 14 is good. Elder Scrolls Online is also fun and no monthly subscription. I think both are on sale right now.
- Guns of Icarus: Looked cool. Is not. :/
- Final Fantasy 11: I found that you "have to" hardcore this even more than I ever had to with WoW. It's good fun, but there seems to be no point to playing if you don't have an hour or more to sink in to pretty much every sitting.
- Neverwinter: Pretty. Fun. Pretty fun. Even cooler if you're a D&D fan at all, or at least the D&D vid'ya games. Suffers from a slow start (even WoW did, though, so hey).
- Ryzom: Was cool pre-WoW. Some of the settings and ideas are still pretty neat; now, not-so-much.
- RIFT: Didn't play it for long; reminded me a bit of Ryzom, but newer. Very slow start.
- Warframe: Really cool start and pretty fast-paced/action-oriented, but the story is - even after several hours - really nebulous, though interesting (even if not particularly unique).
- Wildstar: See above, but even faster and more-action-oriented. Also more cartoony.
- TERA: Actually pretty fun, and I sank a fair amount of time in to this before moving on. It seems that on basically every server, there's a massive infestation of furries and weeaboos. I can get it if that's your thing, but it's not mine, I guess.
- The Secret World: My favorite so far, and I'm currently playing the hell out of it. I'd say it has the same pitfalls (in the beginning) as most MMOs, but the upside is that it's wonderfully story-driven and (for a game, especially of THIS particular type) acted that I barely noticed. Moreover, I found that it's (so far, after like 2 weeks) just as fun a solo experience as it is fun with friends, and you can easily jump on and play for fifteen or twenty minutes here and there without losing much of the experience. It's super-immersive - at least, I think so. My biggest complaints are that the combat can be a bit clunky, and the first zone is sadly-pretty-generic. The writing and voice acting really carries it, though - even when the subject matter (which it sometimes mocks itself for, to great effect) is lacking.
Wait till you get to Tokyo... Everything changes.
@OP try Star Wars The Old Republic.
Its like what if WoW and Star Wars got together and had a mutant flipper baby. It will be very hard to turn away from.
