Steam sale ended 30 min earlier than the schedule in Turkey
Hi,

I was playing Teslagrad demo in order to have an idea about the game before buying it. I didn't rush as according to the schedule, sale should have lasted till 10 p.m. in my country (Turkey) yet it ended 30 min earlier. Any official can help? It is 9.44 p.m. in Turkey right now.

Then you have your timezones wrong. The sale should have ended 45 minutes ago from wrtiting this reply. Reading your post, it ended just in time.

Scheduled time for Turkey was 10 pm as I said. It is still 9.49 in Turkey. Turkish time zone has recently changed. Yet on Steam main page it was written as TSI which means Turkish Time Zone. We should have still 10 more minutes. I don't have my timezones wrong.

:Teddy_talk: That's too bad, OP
Valve/Steam are located in Bellevue, WA and the sale time operates on U.S. Time (Pacific Standard Time) and the U.S. has this "Daylight Savings Time" adjustment and that happens too, so our clocks are adjusted one hour "back" in the fall and adjusted one hour "ahead" in the spring.

In the U.S. we had our one hour back adjustment. Yup and a general count-down timer on the Steam store page woulda been helpful for many non-U.S. time zoners too.
They've had timers before. That is not the issue. The issue is people not paying attention to splash pages, etc, in the first place, then complaining about it later. A warning is only as good as those that take the time to heed it.

It doesn't matter what time you're in now. The sale ended at 10 am PST. As always. And that was an hour ago.
The main page did NOT display a time zone, so there can be various reasons for you to have seen the wrong time.

Do you have a screenshot? I could have sworn it said PST when I checked at 7am this morning.

Unfortunately no, I don't have a screenshot of the Sale banner. That's why I wanted to ask a help from an official, though I'm not sure if they answer or not.

BTW, on the main page I didn't see a time zone. What I say is, on the sale banner it was written that the sale will last till 10 pm (TSI). Again, TSI means Turkish Time in Turkish and Steam has a Turkish interface too. So I have counted on that time notification on the banner. As I said recently government has changed the timezone. Maybe there can be a problem related to that.

Thanks man. So it was IP specific? Even less reason to make an error.

Actually, even more error prone. Use a proxy or VPN, have a server in another timezone, ...

cinedine, as your screenshots prove each banner has a different time. In Turkish one, it said that sale will continue till 10pm in local time. I can understand what you say and yes it is more error prone. Probably Steam made a mistake and misinformed its Turkish customers.

Or the error is somewhere on "your" end. The key point is that the banner never specified which timezone, so no one can tell you if it was an honest mistake or the result of wrong information being interpreted the right way.
Though I doubt that it has something to do with the introduction of TRT, as this would not have caused a forward in time. And almost three months should have been enough time to rectify such a mistake.

Sucks? Sure. But with a 6 Years of Service badge, you should know by now that Steam updates 10 am PST. Come hell and high water.

Edit: I might ome across brusque, but if the banner indeed showed 10pm for you, you at least have more reason to complain then all those other people whining about missing the sale, because they waited until 9:59.

It might be on my end too. That's why I said "probably" in first place. Yet I noticed the problem when I tried to sell my trading cards via mobile too. It wasn't possible to sell cards without changing time. Yes, this recent time zone change sucks big time and its negative outcomes aren't Steam's fault, I am aware. But as there are lots of turkish users, this post might prevent further issues like mine. In order to do that, IMO, if Steam's information about actual turkish time zone is wrong they should simply update it.

Besides I have already done my main shopping earlier days so it's not a big deal for me personally. I was about to buy Teslagrad due to a suggestion (as said, I didn't rush as I've believed that I still have 1 more hour) and noticed the issue by chance in a way. Anyway, thanks for all your responses guys.
