Games that make you edit the files?
I have a friend who has really been enjoying Doki Doki Literature Club due to the aspect of having to physically change files to affect gameplay. Any other games that do this you guys can think of? Any genre. Don't feel afraid to post it

This game has in-game editing store.steampowered.com/app/246070/
kul
This doesn't require you to mess with the game's files, but an achievement is unlocked by uncommenting some code.

oneshot makes you look for clues outside of the game window (it adds/changes some files on your pc) and interact with game files on several occasions

it's a great, lovingly crafted and tear-jerking game that was breaking the 4th wall prior to ddlc or undertale

(playing solstice chapter after completing the main game is strongly encouraged)

Tower 57

Technically, it doesn't MAKE you edit files, but if you want the achievements for finding all the loot crates on each level you need to fix some... All the crates have the same ID number for some weird reason, so you will only ever get credited with finding one crate. UNLESS you edit the TXT files for each level and assign each crate a different ID number.

Whiel this doesn't require you to mess with the actual game files, I DO like games that either break the fourth wall or make you think outside the box.

I always loved Metal Gear Solid for THAT PsychoMantis battle where it reads your memory card and talks to you according to what game saves you have and you can only beat him by plugging your controller into the other controller port.

That was clever design.

I'd recommend Pony Island for another of these weird types of games where you have to do unusual things. Right off the bat you can't even start the game unless you do something unusual.

Also, Baba is You for a great little way to have a bit of freedom of weird logic.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
