The 'Followers' feature is down-right creepy.
I literally dont commute with anyone on steam, I log on today and decide to go to my workshop for some reason it says i have "1 Follower" and I cant check who they are.

We need a feature to disable this.

some guy i found made a video on it here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIo7L-5m0dg

Its not the fact they can follow you, its the fact there is no way to find out who the hell they are.

There's no need for you to know who they are. What's really creepy is wanting to know who they are.
I would like an option for it to be disabled too.
They liked ur stuff.
Agree that would be a nice feuture to turn that off for regular user that dont make games skinns or even guides.
How do you know if you have any followers at all?
I just followed you, OP.

I make guides and I'm no less a "regular user".

From your profile go to "Workshop Items" on the right.

What i meant was having any kind use of that feuture. if you are making something i can understand its important to let you know that you have fans or followers who want to keep a track on your work.
I actually make guides because I like to do it. I don't need to see a number.

I want you to read that statement but read it as if that character in your avatar is saying it.

Following someone's content only affects what happens in that users steam (it will give them notifications), so I can't see any reason for steam to invade their privacy and expose publicly which users have asked for notifications about which content when the only affects are within their own steam account.

Especially given you and the OPs assumption that any follower must be some sort of scary stalker type, it seems like it would open up the possibility of people harassing users that have followed their content on the assumption of bad faith and motives for asking for such notifications, so it seems better that it works this way.
Consider this, steam has very similar privacy options to facebook. Facebook allows you to turn followers off or on. There should be a choice for every user.

They only see what you post in the the public and nothing you set to Private/Friends only. So I really do not see what the big deal is.

They actually do see what you post, to look in to this further I asked my brother from his account to test this out.

If you upload something on friends only the person can see what you post even if they are not on your list, but by following you they can see. We should have a choice whether we want to be followed or not. It is actually stalking by stealth. They can see what you post but you can't see them.

I personally have no use for the feature, I do not upload any content to workshop.
An option to turn this off or on should be available.
Have a hard time all you want, it has been proven. What I have a hard time with is someone not respecting my privacy.
