Steam Authenticator
I have been an user with steam for more than 5-9 years and yet if I do not use a steam authenticator they hold my trades back. Why are we being punished for not using a steam authenticator? Is it because they get more revenue for being in our mobile phone? Has anyone discussed this issue?

The authenticator is meant to protect users from unauthorized trades and sales.

If a hijacker gains access to your email, your mobile authenticator would still protect your account due to the Steam Guard code being required. And should a hijacker still manage to access your account, he cannot trade away or sell your items unless you confirm it through your Steam Mobile app.

I understand that. What I am saying is you need to choose and be liable whether to use the autheticator or not. If you choose not to use it then do not complain to steam about losing your trades. But what I see of this is if I do not use the autheticator I am punished for days and cannot trade.

Steam is not giving any choice. It is either use the authenticator or be punished for not using it.

Valve did that in the beginning. It was optional and users still submitted thousands of tickets. All that after it saying that they were 100% responsible. They still spammed tickets.

Might want to read the almost 2 year old thread right at the top.

Ah sorry I didn't know this was a two year old discussion. I used to trade before with no authenticator but just recently started trading and found this. When I traded before there was no authenticator.

Ok but still the mobile autheticator should be an option not forced upon!

It's not "forced", really. You can use Steam without it.

My issue with it is that it requires a 3rd party smartphone.

It is forced if I do not use a 3rd party smartphone. Same thing what you are saying. If I do not use it my trades are held. Thats the point I am trying to make.

Its an unecesary stupid forced peotection because Valve thinks all Steam users are dumb ugly autistic kids that cant watch for their security themeselves and take resposibility for their items/security.
Everyone who ever got scammed deseeves it for being dumb/not paying attention.

But its really not hard to set up lol just get winauth/an actual phone and a free prepaid phone number, all u need

They sent me to a link which says they had 77000 steam users being hacked every month! How absurd is that?
