Puush links are now removed from chat?

Why would they block an extremely useful screenshot tool?
There needs to be an option to disable link removal but I'm pretty sure Valve is too incompetent to add that.

Use ShareX, automatically uploads to imgur, puu.sh allows you to upload FILES. File uploading links are never allowed for obvious reasons!

to me, outright removal of puu.sh links sounds like a good idea. again, puu.sh specifically you can upload files, not just images, music files, downloadable files, etc. imgur is just for images, (and if you need direct uploader to imgur, there's http://store.steampowered.com/app/400040/ShareX/ has all the tools you know and love from other image uploaders and more, if you just want simple upload, there's that too, also available from http://www.getsharex.com )

If it is being used to host and send malicious files, then I can understand why it was added to the filter.

I suggest using a dedicated image hosting site as that is unlikely to be filtered.

As it is not possible to filter a specific file type, then the host site needs to be filtered to prevent the spread of malicious content.

I suggest talking to the host company about it as they are allowing their system to be used in such a way.

Right, so a fairly wideley used tool should be blocked for literally everyone because a small percentage of users may use it maliciously to trick absolute idiots who can't understand that clicking a link from someone they don't know that ends in .exe or some other file format that is not image related is something they shouldn't do.

It is a tool I wouldn't recommend to ANYONE, if you don't know, they had malware pushed to one of their earlier revisions, whether it got hijacked or was some insider thing, it had a fully destructive malware pushed into the software. you should NOT use puu.sh,you should use the alternatives. And yes, Because puu.sh can upload files it is not safe to have those links allowed, that's that. Not everyone has as much common sense as you. 77,000+ steam accounts get hijacked a month according to one of valve's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ posts, not sure if those figures still hold true today with 2fa and what not, but you gotta figure there's still atleast 10% of that happening.

The issue is that it isn't being sent by a stranger. More often then not, it is being sent by a friends who was infected and doesn't even know they sent it.

It isn't always a .exe either. Anyone can name a file .jpg and send it, along with instructions to change it if the image does not load. This was done with a virus a few years ago where people would change it from a .jpg after downloading it to a .scr (screen saver files) that would inject code and run a script on the user's computer.

Literally everyone doesn't amount to all that much in the Venn diagram of Puush users and Steam users. Use another site, or rather, use Steam's inbuilt screenshot/artwork feature, which is guaranteed to never get blocked.
