Report a translation problem
Open Quicktime. Right click on the Dock icon and select New Audio Recording. After selecting your mic, record a short audio sample, save it, and then reply it to see if the mic is distorted.
If it sounds normal, the problem is not with your mic, and may be with the way CS:GO works (I expect this to be the case because you said Garry's Mod works fine, but it never hurts to double-check)
If your mic is bad, the next person to talk to will work at your local Apple Store.
It's like people are being vague on purpose here just to avoid the posibility that someone might be able to help.
