Click on your "VIEW FRIENDS LIST" on your bottom left of your Steam app (it will also show your Profile Image), then click on it and it will bring up a new Window. This window will show your Friends, Groups and your status. Next to your Username there will be a small triangle/arrow pointing downwards, click on it and it will then display a variety of status'es (no idea whether that word was spelt right) and you can then clikc on Offline mode. Let it be noted that you cannot download games or play multiplayer when in offline mode. I should also state that if your computer is then moved into a no Internet zone or the Internet fails, the Steam application will automatically become Offline and will reconect as soon as the Internet is connected again. You will also only be able to play games that you have already downloaded.

I think thats only for showing if you are online or not to your friends like on skype. but thanks anyway because I tried restarting steam without internet like you said and I could go into offline mode. Thanks.

You'll find the button here:

Account ==> "Go Offline..."

It's right under "Change User..." and above "Backup and restore games..."

Where the hell is the account button? I've looked everywhere.

Look at the top of your screen between "Steam" and "View"

This took me a while but I finally got it.

On the top left of your screen you will see the apple logo where you can find data about your computer (). Click on the steam app. On the top left will appear :  Steam Account ...
Click on account and then switch offline.

Honestly I spent 1 hour and a half trying to solve this problem and I'm so mad at Steam because if you have a problem you can't just talk to somebody! You have to solve your problem all by yourself!

So, you posted just to say that the answer I gave 6 years ago is still correct?

Support has to prioritize their time dealing with people with actual problems that can't be resolved by anyone outside of support. Way back in the day, anyone could write to Support about any mundane thing, this led to wait times that were measured in months. You're mad at Steam because they got rid of that system and now we don't have to wait months for help. I'm sorry to say, but Support has better things to do than tell you how to read a menu on an issue you could have solved easily by reading this very thread, which you seem to have found by searching the forums.

No dude, what happened was this dude doesn't use mac, your answer wasn't helpful because you weren't answering the question he was trying to ask. When he says "Where is the account button?" and you never physically say where the account button is, you just say the button inputs, you aren't being helpful, you aren't answering his question.

I don't think you use a mac either. If you did use a mac, you'd know that is the exact description of where the button is.

Kind of weird to bump a 1 year old thread to tell everyone that you and the person who said they use a mac don't use a mac and have no idea how the menus on the screen appear visually.
