Borderlands 2 crashing on launch.
Hey everyone I've looked in all the threads about BL2 crashing and nothing seems to fix it.

System: MacBook Pro 13" 2020
Processor: 2.3GHz Quad Core Intel i7
Memory: 16GB 3733 MHz LPDDR4X
GPU: Intel Iris Plus Graphics 1536MB

I have tried:
adding -nolauncher to the startup commands (doesn't even skip the launcher)
Uninstalling the game and reinstalling it.
Uninstalling Steam and reinstalling it.
Removing ALL games and data from my mac and reinstalling just Steam and BL2
adding the steam_appid.txt (49520) file to Win32 and running the game both with the terminal from the MacOS folder and from steam.

When being run from the terminal in the game files I get this message:

[S_API FAIL] SteamAPI_Init() failed; no appID found.
Either launch the game from Steam, or put the file steam_appid.txt containing the correct appID in your game folder.

but it is in the folder?

I then get a message saying BL2 requires steam and all that but I have steam, am logged in, and have tried launching the game in every way

I really need some help here I am going crazy and am thinking of removing steam and all of my games again, backing up my other files to iCloud then re setting the system

This happened to me yesterday after I applied the latest Steam Client update. Worked fine before then. Wish I could go back to previous version of client.

I'm glad I'm not the only one in this boat, but the boat still sucks

Unable to find a natural person's contact on Steam for help or report the issue. I therefore invite you to do as I did: write directly to the VALVE company which manages Steam. Here is the contact page: https://www.valvesoftware.com/fr/people (and sorry for my bad english, i'm french)

Please follow the instructions below to participate in the Steam client beta which may correct the issue you are seeing:

1) In Steam, click on "Steam" in the upper left, then choose the "Preferences" menu.
2) On the "Account" tab under "Beta Participation" click the "Change..." button.
3) Select the desired beta test from the "Beta Participation" drop down list and click "OK".
4) You will be prompted to restart Steam, please select the "Restart Steam" button.

Note: In some cases, you may need to perform these instructions twice for the beta to take effect.
