Changing file location on Mac
When downloading from Steam it installs the game on my desktop. How do I relocate the games without "losing" them??

It sounds like you somehow changed the default install location to the Desktop, and keep selecting to save to the Desktop whenever you download a new game. There is a dropdown when you download a game where you can select where you want to save it.

This article shows you how to move games without reinstalling them, and also covers changing what instalation location is set as default.

You will want to change your Library folder back to something sensible, such as the Default location in Library/Application Support/Steam

Actually the other posibility I hadn't considered is you might just be checking the box to put a shortcut on the Desktop. In which case that would be all you have; a Shortcut on the desktop which can be safely deleted. You can prevent Shortcuts from appearing on the desktop in the future by making sure the box to add a shortcut to your desktop isn't checked when installing a game.
