Full resolution on external monitor?

Hi - I have a Macbook Pro and an external monitor - when I run Duskers and 911 operator I can run at the full native resolution of the laptop, but no higher - even if I switch to full screen on the external monitor it is letterboxes at the laptop res. The option to adjust the res on the startup screen doesn't go any higher than the laptop res.
My dock is on the external, and the game is launched from that - any ideas? Thanks!

Have you tried to shutdown your mac, then power it up again close your screen quickly? Then you won't have dual monitor at that moment but it should push everything to your external monitor resolution.

You mean in closed case mode? Yes - regardless it won't recognize the full resolution of the external monitor.

Try looking in system preferences under displays. I THINK I remember seeing an option to designate which screen is your primary screen. Dunno if this would help matters but worth a shot.

If someone ever finds this, there's an issue with games on a Mac where the externals won't display full screen right unless your external is the primary. Go to your display properties and go to arrangement and you'll see one of the displays with a white bar, that white bar is how you manage the primary display. Drag that white bar from one screen to your external and you'll be able to go full screen on that display no problem, it will even create more resolutions in your game preferences for you.

I was also having issues still in 2019 with New MacBook Pro. I have an external display with Thunderbolt 3. The only way I can even get the game to load on the external is by making it the primary screen, moving Steam to external (which works either primary or not) and then loading the game. If I navigate to my built-in screen then the game gets windowed until i click back into screen.

Thanks all for workarounds but wanted to let everyone know there is still an issue with Steam games on external display for Macs.
