Rust Dedicated Server install problem.
So got tired of timeouts, standing a new server up and running into an issue.
Just using a Win 7 'box' for this.

logging in as anonymous
using directions at app_update 258550 -beta legacy validate

Get the following error-
Steam>app_update 258550 -beta legacy validate
applicationmanager.cpp (961) : Assertion Failed: Failed to write app state file
path:\steamcmd\rust_server\steamapps\appmanifest_258550.acf
applicationmanager.cpp (961) : Assertion Failed: Failed to write app state file
path:\steamcmd\rust_server\steamapps\appmanifest_258550.acf
Update state (0x3) reconfiguring, progress: 0.00 (0 / 0)
Error! App '258550' state is 0x1 after update job.

Running the steam cmd under as administrator.

is that the wrong version number maybe? how to I find out what the current one is?

Thanks,
W

bump, same problem here
same problem, but with experimental branch. i have a feeling the solutions will be similar
Alright, i just solved my problem:

Instead of issuing <Force_install_dir PATH:\steamcmd\rust_server\>

I ran

<Force_install_dir C:\steamcmd\rust_server> (because i put my steamcmd folder straight in root. instead of PATH:\-ing to it, i spelled the whole path out)

Then issued app_update as normal. Try it and see if it works for you guys

Incase anyone is having this issue: Error! App '258550' state is 0x202 after update job.

Check you have enough disk space. If not move the install file to somewhere with atleast 10gb of disk space for it to download correct.

Not really related to the above issue but I couldnt find anywhere else explaining this so thought I might as well post it here. Hope it helps someone.
