How do I change the name of my dedicated server

HI, I'm new and I've look at solutions on the forum about this subject but they seemed a little advanced for me. I created a file called server.cfg and put the lines hostname "myNewServerName" and recon_password "somePassword" and sv_password "". That's all I have in the file because I want to start small to see any changes before I move on.

Then I restarted the server and tried accessing it from another pc under the LAN tab. I see the server but the name was still the default server name.

Do I have to edit another file besides server.cfg? What am I doing worng?

Make sure you Make the file in your CFG folder or it will not work.

Delete your server.cfg

Make a new file name it Server.cg
Also make a file named autoExec.cfg

In the autoExec.cfg write "log on" without the "".
in the server.cfg

hostname "servername"
rcon_password "your password"
sv_password "" //Only set this if you intend to have a private server!

So I changed the file names and put the log on and password in appropriate files, restarted the server, then on my other PC I started the game then under the Lan tab the server still has the default name of "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Is there maybe another configuration I'm missing?

Try 'hostname' command on the server console or using any rcon method.
If it worked on real time, must be a CFG problem..
