http://reddit.com/r/buildapc has tons of links in their sidebar which help teach and guide you through the process of building a PC (or literally just make a submission asking for help when you need it).

There's also http://reddit.com/r/suggestalaptop if you really don't want to build a PC yourself and stick with the laptop idea.

In a nutshell, yes, Knoxy (although I personally think that graphics card is too low).

But I'd also reiterate my point to you about checking PCGamer. They have a PC they show every month, with price being a major factor - so you can get a full experience for the least cash.

They also keep it updated as need arises, and new kit comes out. It's also a kit they actually keep built, so they KNOW there's no problem with the devices not being compatible.

EDIT: Actually, after checking that embedded card is crap. So you'd need to update that as soon as possible. I suppose it all boils down to how much you have to spend.

pcper.com hardware leaderboard is a good place to start.

AMD HD 8570D igp is not a good idea, its dog slow. Just stay away from igp, its a cost cutting measure, not for gaming.

well with those specs what fps do you think i would get on battlefield 3, minecraft, gta iv& garrys mod

Are you still wanting a laptop or are you wanting to build your own now? Asus - 17.3" Laptop - 8GB Memory - 1TB Hard Drive - Black[www.bestbuy.com] should fit your needs rather well.

If you want to build your own, MaximumPC has lists to build three different tiers of PCs that you can play games on from budget to mid-tier to break the bank.

Knoxy, can you please answer my question as to how much you've got to spend? Then perhaps we can give you some better alternatives instead of you quoting stuff to us, where you don't have much idea what you're doing (no disrespect intended)?

I notice you're quoting in pounds, that's why I've been assuming you're English like me, so I can guide you to possible places.

Alienwares are overpriced for what they can do. Just makeone, its way cheaper.

Yes just make a laptop...great idea
Usually the people who diss Alienware are people who can't afford an Alienware, just for the record lol

Not at all true. They ARE overpriced. You can get the same specs as a rule of thumb for around 40% less cost.

And that's not just my opinion, but the opinion of many specialist magazines etc.

So, it has nothing to do with money - I could afford one, but there's no way I'd have one.
Well I had one for 4 years and it worked perfectly, worth the extra $200 dollars of overpriceness? Yes.

A Ferrari is also overpriced isn't it?

You miss the point entirely. You're claiming that they're of higher quality then? They're not.

And again, this is NOT just my opinion, but the opinion of other professionals. The parts used in Alienware can be found elsewhere.

That's the point - they are overpirced for NO GOOD REASON. Once upon a time, when they weren't part of Dell, it was slightly different, but not anymore.

Anyway, I've had this MSI laptop for 6 years, and both my current Compaq desktops longer than that. So what?
