Chat Roleplay: Does it exist anymore?

Oh dear, first thread on Steam, don't murder me! I'm just a poor lurker! D:

Alright, but the title sums up my thoughts. I'm with some other fellows who RP within small chats within a certain group, and while I love forum roleplaying, but chat roleplaying just feels much quicker for that toss-away fun that I need while waiting inbetween load screens on games, and helps me write short stories.

Also I really enjoy it, as you can guess.

So, me and my friends have just reached a pit of destructive spirals of nowhere.
Or, well, in a nutshell: We aren't roleplaying because there is only three or two of us at a time RPing. And we're the same trio everytime, so it isn't like we're surprising each other with the same runover idea from last week.

So what am I asking of Steam players who are reading this? (If I am asking anything at all.)

Well, I am curious if me and my friends can get up with some of ye' to form another RP group with actual active people, or even join one of we're up to it.

Oh, and if Chat Roleplay even exists at this point, since we're prob' the only trio who do it at this point, my searches haven't exactly revealed anything happy.

So, if you read through this and don't like any of it, then I am sorry this wasted your time. If you're interested, I wouldn't mind a PM or a post here on this thread, if you just dislike myself and this thread in general, then pardon me for even existing on the forum.

Well, I am happy to hear you RP! But, chat RPing is a bit more cut-down and just fast-paced...A good comparison is Arma 3 and Call of Duty.

Arma 3 (Forum RPing) can be a very grand-scale sort of thing, big posts, good writing, a decent time to post inbetween a comrades post and detail at large.
I'm sure you know all of the stuff, unless our experiences are different and if so: Pardon me.

Call of Duty (Chat RPing) is a fast-paced, rather not really detailed but just fun to do while smaller, and not as detailed. Though with the right people, it can be a hell of a time.

...Well, personally I've never really played any CoD beyond MW2, but, I guess I wrote out that comparison well. <w>

I think chat rp's are superior to forum rp's in many aspects. Although the forums have their clear advantages.

Currently in a weekly Shadowrun game....The DM/GM is quite mad...in a good way.

I know a few people that love to do it, some are mengended here, but most of them are MLP fans, I only do it in topics, I never was one for thinking real fast with more then one person talking at once.

I do RPing in terms of D&D in real life, we alternate DMs every few weeks/month to keep it more fresh, I really like RPing in those kinds of settings, around a table with a bunch of people.
However, I used to RP on Steam as well for a while, although it was only a tiny session most of the time and often revolved around the same topic again and again.
If you're still looking for a few people to have an RP session with (depending on the topic) I may be interested. (I would prefer something fantasy/sci-fi/mystery based)

Oh wow, wasn't expecting this much since the thread died O_o Thank you for your views/opinions! Sadly I just recently left the Chat-RP Group I was with due to the decrease in actual RPing...But, I'm happy to see this thread is being noticed.

About anything relating to actually RPing, I would be up for.
Anyways- once again, thank you for your posts and noticing this thread, I don't know what else to say :c If you have a Chat RP-based group, sign me up!
