Because I skipped this gen of consoles, I was planning to buy a PS4 and play some titles I missed from PS3, but if they're going to ask 10-20 dollars (euros where I live), I might just wait until they release titles like GTA V on PC.
But thanks for the replies anyway.
Anyways relying on sony for backwards compatibility is a fools erand...remember ps3's ps2 backward compatbility? Removed the second they could get away with it. Same with linux. Sony will always say all sorts of things to make themselvse look good to the fanboys.
I wouldn't count on using PS3 games on the PS4 though.
One of the reasons I dropped consoles. Only one left is a Wii for my son...though he is asking for Skylanders now.
Idk if you could make this up from the news, but I'm just curious what you think.
It can play them, just they won't tell you. Just to make more money.
I don't know how hard or expensive it is to make a console backwards compatible, but if Nintendo can do it, why wouldn't Sony be able to do it?!
I think it's just a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ move from a greedy company.
Especially because you have to pay for the more recent games. There is DRM, microtransactions, paying for online service,...And now paying to play games on the next console. So yeah, PC-gaming wins again?
A good example is Mac OS when they were at version 9. Mac's had always run on PowerPC hardware until they switched to x86 the same as PC's when OSX was released. None of the previous software would work natively because it was a different architecture.
But still, wouldn't it be cheaper if they made something to make the PS4 backwards compatible? Can't they insert 2 microprocessors or something? (again, I know nothing about the technical aspect)
And also, older articles say clearly that the console was going to be backwards compatible.
So it is can be done but Sony wants to make as much moneys as possible?
Older articles prior to the announcement were based on speculation, they wouldn't have known.
This is really making me doubt whether or not I want to buy one, but I guess I'm just going to wait and see if some more good games get announced and then make a decision.
So, all my questions are anwsered, thanks!
It wasn't costing too much, they just noticed PS2 were still selling great to they choosed to sell PS2 in addition of PS3 rather than only PS3.
