Does Steam need another tower defense game?
I'm thinking of publishing a tower defense game to Greenlight sooner or later. Do you think people will have an interest in it besides the greenlight page and ads?

I think that genre has gone stale. Unless it provides something new, it isn't realy needed.

A lot of people have low power laptops. Tower defense is ideal.

I like Tower Defence but the main problem with Steam for me is searching for them. Besides I really liked Pixeljunk Monster and Savage Moon on PS3. So yeah, Steam needs more hope its a success~

I'm thinking of making a tower defense game for greenlight, within 1-2 years. I see a lot of stupid tower defense games every single day. Bloons tower defense I was never a fan of, and never will be. There are some good ones online, and steam probably has the best ones. I've seen the Savage Moon and Pixeljunk Monster and they're pretty cool. But this tower defense game idea was set to make the ultimate playing experience, and on multiple platforms. On Steam for Windows, Mac, and maybe linux (I have a raspberry pi and it needs some purpose). I also plan to make the game for the IOS Handheld Devices, so the game can be enjoyed on I-phones, I-pads, and I-pod touches. Still discussing the android market. LAG=BAD.

This tower defense game really sets itself apart for these 3 reasons:

-It's affordable and worth the money:
Hoping for $12.99 on the steam version, more than 20 areas, 100 levels, 100's of waves- and did I mention there's a level editor?

-It's 3D and the graphics are amazing:
We're using Unity3D to make the game and Cinema 4D Release 14, so these graphics might blow up your computer if you don't have a good graphics card- they're modeled after the real-world. And the 3D feels immense, partially since you can easily see your battlefield and city from almost every angle. Includes cinematic lighting and epic explosions. And for people with not-as-great computers, the graphics and animation can be changed and automatically set with your computer to get the best performance possible. You can't beat 60FPS for any game.

-Incredible In-game features:
Besides the revolutionary level editor compatible with hammer, the game changes depending on what happens. If a catapult sets off an explosion, and is hits a natural object in the way, you can build there. If it doesn't rain for a while (yes, dynamic realism weather) then the land will dry up and things catch fire more easily. There are also Geographic changes in weather and a day/night cycle for added realism. Not to mention a professional season-changing cycle, enemy AI, 2-sided battling (pick your side to the fight), and MUCH MUCH MORE.

It's a huge, huge project, but if it succeeds then the steam community is going to love it.
