Some of the most Hy-top ones only get about two to four gigs in 'em.
That's about Forty Borderlands. maybe eighty AOE III's.
I'll go on, Lap-tops also loose their objects easily, Lost batteries, lost mouses, Lost memory cards... Along with lost disks.
Lap-tops are generally used with work, which takes up more space, and are generally slower than advertised.
There's a few other problems, But I won't bother going over them all.
I don't hate laptops or anything, but i just don't find them comfortable to play on.
I mostly just use it for work during the week, and I don't really have much free time anyway so if I want to really sit down and play something more modern I wait for the weekend and do it on my desktop.
Plus, price is a factor... do I buy a really good laptop and spend, say, 1000€, or do I go for the 400€ one - when I know I'll be mostly using it to write papers, read pdf files, watch videos, etc, also knowing that I have a perfectly OK desktop at home. I can see how someone who travels a lot or doesn't have a lot of space would go for the laptop though, they do have the advantage of portability.
If the laptop-owner uses his rig to play roguelikes and SSI:s Gold Boxes, i consider him more gamer than the guy using his desktop to play real-time "strategies", Counter Strike and other burgergames.
A desktop vs a laptop with similar specs, the desktop will always out preform the laptop. It consumes more power to do so, but it does.
So it is less about the laptop it's self and more about the user who owns it.
"OMG! My laptop has a IntelHD 4k and is a brand new laptop! It should be able to play the latest games on max settings! This game won't run even tough it said it won't work on a HD 3k! I demand a refund!"
Yes, that has been stated by a laptop user before.
I prefer power, upgradeability and lower cost over portability.
It is one of the worst gaming experiences and I really need to invest in a gaming PC, not to say that laptops aren't viable but overall their just not as good and lag really badly.
I have seen many people with regular laptops that they likely bought at walmart come on here and expect all games to work and I agree that is there ignorance. Desktops are more powerful and have more options, but I don't think playing on a laptop makes me any less of a gamer than a person on a desktop, after all I play all of the same games people on desktops do.
This is an interesting discussion I think.
Nope, it doesn't make you any less of a gamer. Even a console gamer is still a gamer.
