Am I the only one that genuinely doesn't care about mods?
Unofficial patches for normally unplayable games excluded. Or official DLC.

For the most part I find mods to be a sea of garbage that are too often more of a hassle than their worth... especially in this day and age when almost every game is buggy enough without them. They conflict with eachother, require third party "mod managers" or worse (actually having to stumble through the folders and replace files manually). They'll cause issues if you try and load a savegame with it enabled, or try and load a savegame after uninstalling a few that were previously enabled.

Not all mods cause these issues of course, but it can and does happen.

Is it all really worth it just to use a Final Fantasy gunblade in Skyrim? Or add some lore-breaking "I heart Men" chestplate to your favorite RPG? Half-kidding, of course... but the good, well-tested, well-developed, in-depth mods that don't break lore or stick out like a sore thumb compared to professionally developed content are few and far between.

Graphic improving mods are really cool, I'll give you that... but the hardware requirements again, not necessarily worth the time and effort. Since they're usually those awkward ENB workarounds or shoving textures in far higher resolution than intended for the engine, they aren't optimized for ♥♥♥♥♥.

Whenever people say modding is something to hold over consoles, I always just kind of shrug and carry on with my business. They may be fun and challenging to make, and fun to play around with for a few minutes when you're done playing a game the way the developers intended... but the idea of choosing to game on a PC because "you can download mods" is a bit beyond me.

You are not the only one who doesn't care about mods, but you are one of the few. I like PC gaming because I can install mods to change the game a bit to fit my tastes better sometimes.. I also like using the keyboard and mouse better than two joysticks to control movement. And the way you are talking makes it sound like EVERY game out there is buggy as anything, when clearly that is not the case.

I'd have to disagree about him being the few. More people just play a game with no thought of mods then those who play with mods. It is just that people who want mods are more vocal about it since those who don't care already have the game they want and have nothing to complain about.

I, for example, have only ever used the Steam Workshop for mods, and that was for Skyrim (the only game I have any mods for). I don't care about mods at all, honestly. I just enjoy a good game.

While mods enhance a game, untill the workshop care around, the good omes were hard to install or risky (ones that install using an .exe).

I agree with the rest though. K&M = best controlls ever, and the graphics on PC will always be better. Not ot mention the preformance.

....Please don't go boom now.

I never install mods via an .exe. To risky. I'd rather to it manually and risk messing up the game, (Because it would be easy to fix if I backed it up), than risk messing up my computer. (Which would be much harder to fix. And about your final comment, LoL!

what about, say, when you finished a game's storyline, and still like to play it but have nothing to do?

For me, I usualy never touch it again.

A few exceptions, depending on how much i enjoyed the game. I spent 400+ hors in Skyrim with no mods, playing 3 diffrent character types. Only beat the game (story) with the first one. Also a few games with MP co-op.

Also why I like RPGs. 20-40 hours of most games is enough for me.

I like to try various mods on Civ 5, but other than that I prefer everything vanilla.

If it wasn't for Steam Workshop, I'd completely agree with you about mods being more hassle than they're worth. However, installing mods on several games is as easy as clicking the "Subscribe" button, and all you have to do is a little bit of careful managing to make sure you aren't running anything that will confilct with eachother. The Workshop added well over 200 hours of gameplay for me in Skyrim, and the overall experience was far superior with mods installed that fixed the magic system, made the graphics better, and added their own new content to the game

well, it can be possible to get bored of the base game. so mods can make it more fun! the best example of this is Cortex Command.

Or Minecraft. But then again Multiplayer does just as well or better at keeping it fun.

I don't really care for mods, but I like knowing I can get a mod or make a mod. The reason I like PC is freedom, even though I don't take advantage of that freedom often.
