EDIT:
Got an laptop too (not to brag or anything) But I use it to play older and less powerfull games with it when I'm at school or on vacation.
Building one yourself is the best option seeing it is cheaper and you might get a bit more powerfull stuff with that :o. But playing with a lower resolution and of course lower graphics helps. But it looks nice with higher graphics of course D:. But at least there are older classic games that anyone can play :3.
Well I would reccomend you get the 3rd generation of I7. But if that is too much then stick to the 2nd generation. I'm no expert with processors stuff since this is and will be the last computer I bought completely. But if you stick with the 2nd or 3rd generation then you are good to go.

Battlefield 3 has showed me that my rig built in 2009 to handle Bad Company 2 is not enough. Oh and I have 4 different OSes because screw logic (and my university provided me 7 Pro/Server 2008 as part of MSDN Academic Alliance).

I consider this a pretty good deal for $850. It can play most new games on max or high settings, planning on upgrading it this summer though.
Bought all the pieces in a package deal, so I guess I could have tweaked a bit more to get a better deal - but seeing as it was my first time building a computer I'm more than happy with it.
