Not really, they are overpriced as well. Like I said, you are just buying the brand name. I bought a high end Dell laptop a year ago with slightly better specs compared to another Alienware laptop for about $1000 to $15000 cheaper.
Ya, they look nice, but I'm not about to pay a premium for looks.

I own an Alienware though, except I bought it pre-owned on eBay for around the price I could have built a PC with the same specs. Also the desktops use a custom mobo which makes upgrading that kind of a hassle but other than that it's a good computer. Case is really easy to take apart too, and the inside is amazing to work with.
If you go Alienware, I'd suggest buying it through eBay instead of the actual site unless you want to pay way too much.
Heh, wait a few years when you might want to upgrade few parts and talk about impressive design then. ;-)
Besides I dont really consider X51 anywhere near high-end. Best graphics card you can get for them is medium range GTX 760.
