That's nonsense. That's what we call an excuse, not a reason. It's an attempt by people trying to force TikTok to sell to their friends to tell voters it's all for their own good. There is absolutely no possible way for TikTok to engage in "espionage" unless someone within our government was distributing sensitive information on their platform. That's already illegal.

They're doing it themselves (espionage using social media apps) so they think China must be doing it too. Every accusation is a confession.

So I should let politicians run amok banning any private company who is a threat to their investments, so someone, such as yourself, with absolutely no foresight, won't accuse me of simping for a foreign country that has even less power to cause me any kind of harm than the people you think we should empower in order to stick it to them?

Basically. If they're so concerned with social media apps collecting data, and that data could be collected on a government employee, it only takes a single executive order to ban it's usage for all government employees. So banning it for everyone clearly has nothing to do with "national security."

Yep, we do have laws against it. That's why Hillary Clinton was put in jail during Trump's first term for mishandling her emails. Oh, wait, that didn't happen? How do you feel about that? Also, what about Trump taking classified documents >_> Plus espionage is more than just getting ahold of sensitive information. It's also about planing the seeds of insurrection. At least, that's what Civ. Ⅱ taught me anyway.
