Are any of the steam streams real? Been wondering for about 10 years now.
I just never had the courage to ask anyone and also because it didn't seem like that big of a deal to ask in support. But it did make me curious.

The LIVE Broadcast label with the red button is present and there is a chat going on.

But it just seems strange to me that the devs or creators are only streaming on steam and not anywhere else (twitch, youtube).

Can anyone tell me what's actually going on...? Please let me satiate my 10 year curiosity.

Nah bro they are a figment of ur imagination...
They're probably pre-recorded or old vods played on loop.
I've always wondered that myself but I just assume it's either bots or AI. They can easily use 'Deep Fake' to make somebody say something they actually didn't even come anywhere near saying. It happened a lot the last 2 elections to put out people they don't want to be heard but many Americans are more aware of it then you would think.

They just aren't allowed a voice so they take it to the voting polls and live their lives.

I have my broadcast opened for anyone who wants to see my sweet 20 mbs dsl connection playing games.

You can watch me play one of my 5300 games in pure pixelation its great!

If you are asking about the steam streams on games by devs they say prerecorded if they are so its just a loop of the dev playing over and over.

The chat works. You can send messages.
So, it's not clear..

The chat is live sure but if the stream says prerecorded its a taped stream. You are basically watching a youtube video at that point and commenting.

It's all labelled properly just pay attention and notice friends!

if its on a store page:

-the developer is probably there for a couple hours, then ends the stream.

-the recorded footage loops

-the chat is live, anyone watching the stream or loop can comment.

i think its useful since it shows you live gameplay footage, and you don't have to go hunting on twitch for someone who is live, for some titles that perhaps aren't as popular yet.
