With Mississippi being the poorest, it still has a higher GDP than all of France. Even when you're at the bottom, you're still doing better than many other nations out there.

What kind of governmental policies do you think should be implemented?

Actually California went bankrupt under Governor Gray Davis and is the brokest State. They bought time by mass bringing in illegal immigrants to boost House Seats to rob from the other States in the Union. California is buried in some serious debt it can never pay off. The illegals made their finances much worse than under Gray Davis. Those stores in California can't continue to exist with nobody stopping theft. At some point the thieves will realize they can rob California National Guard Armories and not get prosecuted. Then the roving mobs of drug cartels will finish off the State. There is no saving California.

Great job, to my Republican friends....That is what they call, 'trickle down economics'. Glad to see those states enjoying it so well. Sad.

Hmmmm, I wonder what it'd look like by political party...

Mississippi - Republican leaning
West Virginia - Republican leaning
Arkansas - Republican leaning
New Mexico - Democratic leaning
Louisiana - Republican leaning
Kentucky - Republican leaning
Alabama - Republican leaning
Oklahoma - Republican leaning
South Carolina - Republican leaning
Tennessee - Republican leaning

Weird- wonder if that's a coincidence /s

I think some sort of guaranteed income (or a federal jobs guarantee) for all citizens would help improve poverty (not just in the mentioned states) funded through a wealth tax, I think any income over 30 million should be taxed at 100%

thats why I think we should give every citizen over the age of 18 either guaranteed income or a guaranteed job if you want to make people work for it, America is suffering from mass unemployment due to under-hiring on the part of corporations, also these companies largely hire illegal immigrants to the economic detriment of natural-born citizens, I think we should harshly punish any company that does so, same with outsourcing jobs in tech and ♥♥♥♥, CEOs that pull this ♥♥♥♥ should be jailed and removed from their positions

I'm also an independent, but I get told that I lean more left than right which is arguably fair. Things like abortion, gay rights, etc. Basically I say I'm an independant because I'm against tyranny and disinformation. Both sides end up doing this in one way or the other, though. I long for a day where a confined anarchy is present. Someone definitively raped the neighbour's daughter? I'd be happy to break their legs. Right now, if the perpetrator has enough money, it's simply covered-up. Not in an anarchist society. We need to live in a world ruled by morals, not by greed

What are your rankings based on? If it doesn't also include the average cost of living in each state, it's not a meaningful ranking.

Ironically Mississippi has a lower homeless rate than other states.
They are doing better at getting their (admittedly poor) population in homes.
(this is my surface level take)

Yeah, I'd guess median wealth, average household income or something.

But what does a bottom ten even mean without knowing what 11-20 look like? Lots of poor people in South Dakota. But fewer people total, so maybe the rich people balance out the statistics more.
