one punch man i guess?
i mean he is not heavyweight but sure
I'm guessing Max Baer. I suggest looking him up online if you don't know about him.
Most likely ButterBean because of very high body mass behind the punch combined with a lot of strength.

Runners up will be Tyson because of pure strength.

If the 2 faced off and were in their prime age then Tyson would most likely win because of skill BUT he would need to work HARD because ButterBean was able to endure a LOT of damage even in late rounds and still fight on unfazed like it was still first round.

The fight might need to be old-school when 15 rounds was still allowed.

It would be a blood bath and Tyson would be tested because ButterBean would seriously injure him. Still I predict Tyson winning in the end.
When it is about boxing, then no matter the questions, the answer is always Rocky Marciano
Sadly, we never saw Mike Tyson and Eric Esch (Butterbean) together in the ring.

A match between the two when they where in there prime state would be awesome.

At least I happy that they are good friends and enjoy life now.
Ivan Drago "what ever he hits, he destroys".

Anyway back to reality, I don't know much about the hardest hitters in boxing but I money would be on Mike Tyson. Anyway, from what I gather, Mike Tyson is a animal on screen but seems a really nice chap in real life. Still im sure Will Smill wouldn't have got up on stage slaping (like he did with chris rock) if it was Mike Tyson hosting it.
Sadly we will never truly know the answer to that OP.

Back in my day and long before that no one was measuring and even if they could, what defines the hardest punch depends on how people people view what constitutes as one.
The usual knockout count is an inaccurate gauge as is size of person.

So many factors go into pulling off the perfect punch its not something that is consistent.
I believe what defines a hardest hit isnt the force at the moment of contact but how slow it tails off after contact (drive through).

But hey thats just my opinion.
Butterbean was a sideshow act who fought desperate nobodies. The only reason he got famous was because he was morbidly obese.
sonny liston hit hard as hell. i was watching a youtube documentary on him and they said that every time he hit someone, he broke something. like if he hit their rib he'd break the rib
